Four Style Resolutions for 2017

Four Style Resolutions for 2017

Dress: Vintage via Goodwill (Similar Splurge // Save); Bomber: Trina Turk via Rent the Runway (Similar Save); Boots: Steve Madden; Bag: Vintage via Goodwill (Similar Splurge // Save); Earrings: Finola Jewelry

Even though we’re a couple of days into the new year, it’s not too late to make a New Year’s style resolution for 2017. Setting a style intention for the year isn’t just for the savvy fashionista, these four resolutions will help you have a more stylish and fabulous 2017! (No dieting necessary!)

  1. Create a go-to outfit blueprint. This does NOT mean the black dress you put on when it’s that time of the month or when you “have nothing to wear”. Your go-to outfit blueprint is a trusty combination of pieces you always feel and look fab in. My go-to outfit right now is a midi dress with booties and a jacket or blazer on top. This blueprint can take on various trends and occasions, but it’s guaranteed to make me feel comfortable and confident!
  2. Embrace your strengths. Year after year, I try to embrace trends that don’t work for me. (I’m looking at you, drop waist!) This year, I vow to embrace the styles that work for me and let go of the ones that don’t! If you aren’t sure what your strengths are, look at your favorite picture of yourself or ask a trusted friend!
  3. Clean your closet regularly. No matter how often  I clean out my closet, it still becomes a black hole.  I try to donate a bag or two of clothes every month, but it still doesn’t make a dent. I completed my Closet Cleanout Challenge from last year (here), and it helped tremendously. I’m doing the same challenge again this year!
  4. Be YOU! I know it’s cliché, but it’s true. Trends come and go, but that picture of you on Facebook lives forever! If you don’t like a trend or don’t feel comfortable embracing it, then don’t, let it pass, and laugh with your friends in a couple of years. I skipped overalls and feather extensions, and I’m a better woman because of it!
