You know that awkward time transitioning between winter and spring? It’s like, gimme all the pastels and sundresses, but it’s still 40 degrees outside!  All those shiny, new spring items have hit the racks, but wearing them outside garners the inevitable comment from your S.O., “You’re going to freeze in that.” (Or am I the only one?) Gracefully transitioning from winter to spring is no longer just for the fashion elite. With a few pointers, you can handle this transition period with the grace of Olivia Pope.

  1. Don’t store away your boots just yet. Whether over the knee or booties, boots are the perfect transition piece to pair with your spring skirts and dresses. Boots are a great way to show a peak of skin without breaking out your bikini-ready gams. Bonus points for covering up those toes that haven’t seen the light of day in a few months.
  2. Layer up. A light coat, sweater, or blazer will come in handy on those chilly mornings and evenings. You can always remove layers.
  3. Add some color. Maybe you can’t break out that white maxi dress just yet, but incorporating accessories in lighter colorsor metallics is a great way to usher in the new season. (Pantone’s Colors of the Year are a great place to start!) This is also a good time to switch up your beauty routine trading in those dark nail polishes and burgundy lip color for a neutral spring polish  or a bright red lip.
  4. Bring on the shades. Break out your sunglasses for the bright afternoons and cover up those bags under your eyes from tax season. Just don’t wear them inside unless you’re Beyoncé at a NBA game.
  5. Treat Yo’ Self…to a pedicure. Warmer days are ahead. You don’t want to wake up on the first day of spring and scream at the sight of your digits in your favorite open-toe wedges. Act, don’t react. Get a pedicure…today.

Lady! You are rocking this skirt! I agree that the transition can be tricky sometime and that is what is nice about layering. I love all of these pieces and how you have put them together 😉

Great tips! It’s so hard for me to put away my boots anyways, I love boots so much-haha. I always love maxi skirts for spring-time as well.
