Creating New Memories with Ex Voto Vintage and Social Bliss Events

Creating New Memories with Ex Voto Vintage and Social Bliss Events

Social Bliss Events, an event planning boutique specializing in bachelorette parties, planned an intimate shopping experience for a lovely (and stylish) group of ladies to check out a local jewelry boutique. With over twelve years of city living, Sarah knows how to curate a weekend agenda full of hidden gems with a sprinkle of tourist hot spots for the perfect bachelorette weekend. Even as a five-year Nashvillian, Sarah introduced me to Green Hills’ newest gem, Ex Voto Vintage.

It’s not only the bargains of Goodwill that makes my heart skip a beat, but also the stories the clothing once told.  I believe every item I purchase had a life before me and will continue to have a life after me. Though Ex Voto Vintage’s Nashville showroom opened a short six months ago, Elizabeth Adams’ story began over seven years ago. After the tragic loss of her three year old daughter to brain cancer, Adams began to experiment with repurposing medallions and lockets. She recreated the story for these neglected and broken items, crafting beauty from the ashes. Her beautiful repurposed pieces now live on and become a part of someone else’s story.

The 2011 Golden Globes gift bag contained Ex Voto Vintage pieces. Octavia Spencer, Debra Messing, Sadie Robertson, Sarah Drew, and Mayim Bialik have all donned Adams’ unique pieces. Find your unique piece  online or in one of three showrooms. The Nashville showroom is located at 2209 Bandywood Drive in Green Hills with locations in Birmingham and Montgomery, Alabama. A portion of all sales is donated to The Cure Starts Now Foundation for Pediatric Brain Cancer Research.

This blog has become an important part of my story. Goldwill Digger began during a tough chapter in my life. Not to get all drunk girl in the bathroom that spills her life story with no prompting, BUT the opportunities I’ve experienced, the people I’ve met, and the support I’ve received as a result of this vision have far exceeded any of my expectations. So thank you for each like, share, or comment for helping me steer my story to intersect with my dreams!

What have you repurposed in your life to become a part of your story – a DIY Goodwill dresser or a life speed bump? Leave me a comment below.

I LOVE your blog concept, Betsy! I love vintage shopping, too, and I really love going to thrift stores. I am originally from Middle Tennessee, but my family and I moved to Detroit, Michigan last year. So far I have only found one Goodwill in Detroit. I miss shopping at Goodwill in Nashville.
I have never heard of Ex Voto Vintage. I would love to visit it when I visit Tennessee again. Elizabeth’s story is very inspiring. I am sorry to hear of her loss. It is beautiful how she repurposed the vintage jewelry into something so beautiful.

Thank you so much! I can’t imagine only have one Goodwill around. That sounds like a nightmare! Elizabeth has a beautiful and inspiring story. I highly recommend visiting their showroom in your next trip to middle Tennessee.

I love this post so much! Thanks for continuing to spread your positivity! Your vision is a joy to see come to life on your blog and I look forward to following along for many years to come! I can’t wait to check out Ex Voto Vintage next time I’m in Green Hills! PS – where do you find Carlos Santana shoes now? They were my favorite heels a few years back but I can’t find any stores that carry them!

Thank you so much, Maggie! Your kind words mean so much to me! I got those at the Macy’s in Green Hills last fall! They don’t have a huge selection though.
