Jacket: Banana Republic ; Turtleneck: Goodwill (Similar Splurge or Save); Jeans: Gap via Goodwill (Similar Splurge or Save); Shoes: Dolce Vita; Sunglasses: Forever 21, old (Similar Splurge); Necklace: DIY from Goodwill (Similar Splurge or Save); Lips: Hiraki Cosmetics in Merlot; Nails: Essie in Penny Talk (duh!)

I had been unsuccessfully searching for the perfect pair of destroyed boyfriend jeans for two seasons. During another unsuccessful trip to the dressing room, it dawned on me to DIY my own. I immediately drove to my local Goodwill and scoured the jean racks for the perfect pair of relaxed fit jeans. My first idea was to search the boys jeans (I have less in common with a 12-year-old than I thought..thanks JNCO Pipes). Next idea was to search the women’s jeans but 2-3 sizes bigger. This is where I found the perfect “relaxed” fit pair of jeans from GAP. I used this tutorial to help my create the perfect (and one of a kind) pair of destroyed boyfriend jeans. I have worn these jeans all summer and into fall (also featured here). One of the great (easiest) finds for Goodwill newbies is the jean rack. A great pair of designer jeans is buried in your local Goodwill, if only you dig hard enough!

Another easy Goodwill DIY is this druzy pendant necklace. Druzy jewelry his having a huge moment right now (Thanks Kendra Scott!). Can you believe this necklace used to be a chain belt from Goodwill? Believe it! This simple DIY helped me turn it in to a one-of-a-kind necklace!

If you try your hand at either of these DIYs, tag me on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook with the hashtag #goldwilldigger. I would love to see your creations!

If you’re in the Nashville area, don’t forget the huge Goodwill outlet blowout going on this weekend! Details and tips here!

Loving the blog!! Keep the tips and ideas coming! Question- If you find a piece that needs to be altered, do you do that yourself? If so, what do you find is the easiest type of clothing to alter or start with? I’m a newbie to my sewing machine and trying to learn 🙂

I LOVE those jeans! Gap makes the best denim in my opinion. Happy Halloween!

Our Goodwill arranges cletohs based on COLOR..???It is very pretty but not very practical! They also write on some items with a Sharpie marker.Sometimes the price is in a visible location on say, a vase. Why would I buy a vase with a 2- in permanent marker?Goodwill here is like the Macy’s of thrift stores. The others get the worst stuff, Goodwill has all the name brand things.

You are definitely inspiring me to start thrifting more! You did a great job on the denim.

This is genius!! I’m an avid goodwill shopper, and after going about every other week or so for the past year, I truly believe that I can find anything there I’m coveting on retail sites. (And I’ve kicked myself a few times for purchasing things full price and finding them a few months later at Goodwill). So, I’ve been on the hunt for some distressed jeans since the fall and I just can’t find them any! I’m definitely trying this out!

My Goodwill actually tries to arangre things by size and color. They don’t write on things here, but I had a nice purse I got at some thrift shop with a price written in permanent marker on the inside flap. There are a ton of thrift shops in Nashville, but I pretty much only ever go to Goodwill for both thrift shopping and donating.
