Now that we have conquered the long Fourth of July weekend (or let the weekend conquer us…in my case), it’s time to embrace these five summer staples up until the pumpkin spice latte release date.
1. White Dress
Sounds easy enough, right? A little white dress (“LWD”) is a closet staple, but finding a LWD with anything longer than short sleeves is a challenge. The boho chic vibes of this Anthropoligie dress combined with the crocheted sleeves allow me to stay coolish in this sweltering Tennessee humidity.
Stripes, stripes, every where stripes. I would argue that stripes never really go out of style, but I have seen them EVERYWHERE this summer! The J.Crew Ruffle Sleeve top is a personal favorite. Because stripes are timeless, Goodwill always has a good selection of stripes, including this Marc Jacobs top I recently snagged for 2.25!!
Contrary to practicality, the off-the-shoulder top/dress is having a major moment right now. Even Kate Middleton is sporting the trend. I’ve converted a couple of my tops to off-the-shoulder (like this Kensie dress), but I usually get frustrated halfway through the day. After all, fashion isn’t really practical.
4. Straw Hat
During the summer, sunscreen and I are tighter than Taylor Swift’s girl squad. All day. Errrrday. I often neglect my scalp and my hair. Hats solve this problem, and cover up those stray grays that keep popping up. I like the J.Crew Panama Hat for everyday wear and this Eugenia Kim dupe for beach days.
Slides? Really? I haven’t worn slides since my Adidas Adissage Slide days in middle school. I picked up a pair of gold Sam Edelman slides (similar to these) at the beginning of summer, and they have been my go-to. Dressed up, down, at the pool, they are so versatile. I blame you, DJ Khaled.
